Young Adults Program Coordinator

Reports to: Young Adults Program Manager

Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt

 

Impact Statement:

The Young Adults Program Coordinator ensures that clients have the necessary tools to obtain and keep employment by providing one on one job coaching, job readiness workshops, and work-related support. The coordinator is the primary contact person for all young adults between the ages of 16-24 employment services clients at MAMs Campus.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct orientation and enrollment activities for all new participants, including daily assessments.

  • Provide one-on-one job coaching and establish rapport and trust with participants.

  • Offer job readiness training at various locations as scheduled, including in schools and other partner locations.

  • Identify and recruit eligible participants for the program (ECP) and vocational training opportunities, ensuring age-appropriate resources and opportunities.

  • Recruit qualified participants for vocational trainings and other learning opportunities and follow up with them to ensure attendance and completion of homework and assignments.

  • Assist participants in exploring career options.

  • Ensure newly enrolled participants meet with a job coach before accessing additional program services.

  • Process and manage requests for job-search-related financial assistance, including issuing vouchers or using program work support.

  • Track and document participant progress to ensure all program requirements are completed prior to graduation.

  • Conduct presentations about the program independently to various audiences.

  • Build and maintain relationships with service providers and community partners to enhance program impact.

  • Exercise autonomy in daily work, using discretion to allocate resources and manage challenging client situations effectively.

  • Follow up with participants regularly to provide guidance, track efforts, and document client outcomes accurately in the ETO database in a timely manner.

  • Attend meetings, staff events, and other MAM functions as required.

  • Ensure data entry in the ETO database is thorough, accurate, and completed on time.

  • Work without intensive supervision, exercising autonomy in daily work content and decision-making.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the MAM mission.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with young adults from all walks of life and treat them with dignity and respect.

  • Strong understanding of the hiring process, including hands-on experience in recruiting, interviewing, screening, OR assisting and supporting young adults.

  • Ability to command the respect of volunteers, and to involve, motivate and recognize them in program activities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills at both the individual and group level; specifically, the ability to listen empathetically to participants and to suggest corrective courses of action persuasively; AND the ability to create and deliver presentations before groups of participants and/or volunteers.

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks in an environment with no support staff.

  • High School Diploma (or higher) or five years plus of coaching/training experience in a business.

  • Self-sufficient in MS Office, email, Internet, etc.

  • Ability to do presentation in public.

  • Ability to teach workshops to young adults.

  • English fluency (read, write, speak and understand)

  • Reliable use of smart phone in order to record time and attendance remotely when needed.

  • Regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use keyboard, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms

  • Required to have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Required to remain at their workstation for prolonged periods of time

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Conditions/Work Environment:

Primary work location is a climate-controlled indoor office environment.  This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

 

Remote Work

  • Required to work on-site 60% or more time each week at MAM for face-to-face clients meeting, in person orientations, job readiness workshops and work support services.

  • May work remotely up to 40% of time each week for virtual coaching, job readiness workshops, providing intensive follow-ups and data entry on ETO data base.
