Financial Coach

Impact Statement: The role of MAM Financial Coach is to coach and educate clients to

develop responsible spending habits through Financial Education and one on one Coaching.

The Financial Coach brings positive change in the knowledge, skills, behaviors, and

experiences of those served, helping them better prepare to increase savings, improve

credit scores, reduce debt, increase net income, build assets, and become financially stable.


Position Summary: The Financial Coach provides one-on-one financial coaching to

clients; cultivates and stewards relationships with external partners, communicates

effectively with all constituents, including staff and volunteers of MAM, and delivers

financial classes/workshops.


Responsibilities:

• Ensures that key performance indicators and goals are met.

• Provides one-on-one Financial Coaching, applying MAM’s Coaching Model

• Schedules clients for coaching service appointments

• Regularly conducts outreach and recruits new clients for the Financial Coaching

program

• Provides regular follow ups to confirm each client’s progress and outcomes

• Ensures that volunteer schedules provide optimal coverage, oversight, and

performance for the benefit of our clients and collaborative partners.

• Stays abreast on new teaching methods, curricula, technologies, and programs;

attend educational seminars/conferences impacting MAM’s financial education

programming.

• Pulls credit reports in a timely manner and effectively explains the report to the

clients.

• Maintains effective communication with volunteers to know their availability for

coaching, classes, etc.

• Facilitates Financial Education class on various topics in person and on online

platforms

• Works collaboratively with other staff of MAM to ensure that program initiatives are

well coordinated with other programs and initiatives of MAM.

• Maintains up-to-date records (database and others as appropriate) on client

demographics, attendance, progress, skill level and outcomes.

• Cultivates and maintain effective, mutually beneficial collaborative relationships

with a variety of community partners.

• Assists with program evaluation activities, including data collection.

• For and on behalf of MAM, attend and effectively participate in meetings, trainings,

outreach, and other events as appropriate.

• Ensures that volunteers are knowledgeable of MAM’s service standards,

programmatic philosophy, best practice, curricula and approved teaching methods.

• Ensures that the Program Manager, Coordinator, and other staff as appropriate, are

up to date on programmatic activities, status of goal achievement, upcoming

priorities, and opportunities.

• Ensures that programmatic data is consistently collected, maintained and analyzed.

• Effectively plans and implements program events, workshops/ classes, assessments,

and coaching sessions.

• All other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required (oral, written, and conversational skills to an

extent such that conversations, curricula, handouts, presentations and all written

communications can be accomplished fluidly and with little effort or preparation);

• Minimum of one year of experience providing one-on-one financial coaching is

required

• Experience and skill as a workshop facilitator, teacher, support group leader or

other experience that demonstrates experience, skill and/or interest in teaching

adults is required

• Effectively self-aware and with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively

with a broad diversity of staff, volunteers, clients, and collaborative partners both

orally and in writing

• Excellent mastery of professional boundaries;

• Strong work ethic, self-directed, flexible, finishes what is started;

• Demonstrated ability to work with people from all walks of life and treat them with

dignity and respect;

• Culturally aware and supportive of a growing, diverse client base;

• Certification as a financial coach is a plus.

• Intermediate to advanced skill with Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience supervising adult volunteers is a plus!; and

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to talk or hear

• Regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use keyboard, handle or feel objects, tools, or

controls; and reach with hands and arms

• Required to have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

• Required to remain at their work station for prolonged periods of time

Work Conditions/Work Environment:

• May work remotely up to 20% of time each week in virtual coaching, job readiness

workshops, providing intensive follow-ups and data entry on ETO data base as

needed and as approved by supervisor.

• May work in person at assigned work sites for face-to-face client meetings, in person

orientations, job readiness workshops and work support services.

• Will be required to work some evenings and weekends, all of which will be planned.

• Primary work location is a climate-controlled indoor office environment.

• Flexibility for travel related to job requirements; and

• Provide own reliable transportation with proof of valid driver’s license and TX

minimum requirements of auto insurance
