Impact Statement:

The Workforce Development Coordinator’s primary role is to build relationships and connect services with Workforce Solutions offices at the Westheimer and Acres Homes satellite locations. In this role, the lead ensures that coaching, job readiness workshops and work support services meet the needs of clients. The coordinator supports our clients to access additional resources at the Workforce Offices and expand our services to assist job seekers beyond our regular MAM Blalock location.

Position Summary:

The Workforce Development Coordinator serves as a coach, mentor, and teacher, working with individual clients to help them develop or improve their resume, improve their interviewing skills, set job-search and employment goals, and to access a wide variety of supportive or complimentary programs at MAM, Workforce Solutions and in the community. The coordinator serves as the initial point of contact for clients from MAM to Workforce Solutions and from Workforce to MAM.


· Works cooperatively and builds effective relationships with staff at MAM and staff at Workforce Solutions.

·Ensures that all clients referred to/from MAM are properly screened for eligibility and have completed all aspects of program orientation and assessment prior to accessing services.

·Ensures that clients are linked to appropriate/intended programs, services and supports, including financial education and supports.

·Conducts job readiness training and coaching.

·Works one-on-one with clients to coach and mentor them on a variety of job readiness topics including professionalism, interviewing, resume, communication, obstacles, boundaries, soft skills, job-search strategy, post-employment planning, etc.

· Works to engage, motivate, encourage, support and guide clients to meet their personal goals and commitments to MAM.

·Helps clients enroll in vocational training and certificate programs provided by MAM or paid for by MAM.

·Works to connect clients to other programs of MAM and community partners/resources that will help them meet their goals.

·Schedules and coordinates the provision of MAM workshops on-site at Workforce Solutions.

·Conducts long-term follow-up with clients to track their progress and provide post-placement coaching.

·Ensures the collection of data to document client efforts and outcomes.


·At least two years’ experience with workforce development, recruiting, or human resources – roles and experience interacting with job seekers and/or leadership development.

·Demonstrates enthusiasm to engage directly with clients from all walks of life, to listen empathetically and to effectively use the coaching model to help clients engage in goal setting to explore behavioral change.

·Demonstrates an extremely high level of emotional intelligence and ability to adjust one's own approach in order to accommodate the needs of others.

·Strong interpersonal skills at both the individual and group level; specifically, the ability to listen empathetically to clients and to suggest corrective courses of action persuasively; AND the ability to create and deliver presentations before groups of clients and/or volunteers.

·Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and to finish what is started.

·Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources management or three years college experience plus 2 years' work experience with workforce development.

·Self-sufficient in MS Office.

·Fully fluent in English (read, write, and conversation).

· Fully fluent in Spanish (read, write, and conversation) preferred.

· Commitment to the MAM mission.


· Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Communications, Marketing, Business, or Nonprofit Management preferred or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years of school- or work-related experience in assigned areas of responsibility

  • A capacity to work on multiple projects concurrently

  • Ability to solve problems with creativity and efficiency

  • Flexibility to occasionally work in the evenings and/or weekends to support or attend work-related events

· Experience with Donor Perfect CRM a plus

Physical Demands:

•Regularly required to talk and hear.

•Regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use keyboard, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

•Required to have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

•Required to remain at their workstation for prolonged periods of time.

•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Conditions/Work Environment:

·May work remotely up to 20% of time each week in virtual coaching, job readiness workshops, providing intensive follow-ups and data entry on ETO database as needed and as approved by supervisor.

·May work in person at assigned work sites for face-to-face client meetings, in person orientations, job readiness workshops and work support services.

·Will be required to work some evenings and weekends, all of which will be planned.

·Primary work location is a climate-controlled indoor office environment.

·Flexibility for travel related to job requirements; and

·Candidate must have their own reliable transportation with proof of valid driver’s license and TX minimum requirements of auto insurance
