Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Community Engagement 

Status: Full-time/ non-exempt

Compensation Range: $23/hour - $25/hour DOE

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in welcoming, guiding, and supporting those volunteers—helping create experiences that are organized, impactful, and grounded in MAM’s values.

This is a hands-on, people-centered role for someone who is energized by working with others, enjoys being present in the day-to-day flow of programs, and finds purpose in connecting people to meaningful service. For the right individual, this position offers opportunities for growth and expanded responsibility over time.


Position Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and support of volunteer engagement activities across MAM’s programs and events. This includes recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, training, and supporting individual and group volunteers.

This role requires a high degree of flexibility, as schedules may vary week to week based on program, volunteer, and event needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.


Key Responsibilities


Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement

  • Recruit and engage individual, corporate, faith-based, and community volunteers to support MAM programs

  • Build positive, welcoming relationships that encourage ongoing volunteer involvement

  • Conduct outreach through public presentations, community events, and partner relationships

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for volunteers, ensuring clear and consistent communication

·        Confidently present MAM’s mission, values, programs, and expectations in a clear and welcoming manner.

Volunteer Coordination & Support

  • Plan, coordinate and lead volunteer onboarding, orientations, background checks, and training

  • Schedule volunteers and maintain accurate calendars to support program needs

  • Match volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on skills, interests, and organizational needs

  • Provide ongoing support to volunteers, addressing questions and helping ensure a positive experience

  • Deliver orientations at times that align with volunteer availability, including occasional evenings and weekends

Group & Event Support

·       Coordinate volunteer activities for group projects, donation drives, and special events

·       Prepare materials, schedules, and logistics to ensure a smooth and meaningful volunteer experience

·       Provide on-site support during group volunteer activities, including sharing overview of MAM, guiding groups and answering questions

·       Assist with set-up and cleanup following group projects and events hosted by Development.

Program Collaboration

  • Partner with program staff to understand volunteer needs and support program operations

  • Help ensure volunteers are appropriately integrated into program activities

  • Communicate scheduling updates, needs, and feedback across teams

Volunteer Experience & Recognition

  • Support volunteer recognition efforts and appreciation initiatives throughout the year

  • Help foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where volunteers feel valued and connected to MAM’s mission

Administrative & Reporting Support

  • Track volunteer participation, hours, and engagement metrics while maintaining accurate volunteer records and tracking within Database systems.

  • Assist with reporting and documentation of volunteer activity and impact

  • Support ongoing improvements to volunteer processes and workflows


Schedule & Work Environment


  • Schedule will vary based on volunteer and program needs

  • Flexibility required, including occasional evenings and weekends

  • Primarily onsite with direct interaction with volunteers and staff

  • Active role requiring standing, walking, and engagement during volunteer activities

 

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience

  • 2+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit work, customer service, or community engagement preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Comfortable speaking to and facilitating small and large groups

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Comfortable working with diverse populations and communities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems including Volgistics
