Reports to: Director of Volunteer Engagement

Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt

 

For more than 40 years, volunteers have played a critical role in providing MAM’s programs and services to our community. Volunteers serve as ESL instructors, job coaches, digital literacy instructors, financial coaches, and positions within MAM’s resale store, just to name a few.  MAM volunteers are the heart of our organization and bring the mission to life!  They are talented, compassionate, creative, innovative, committed, and fun!  If you love people, a fast-paced environment, coordinating details, and having fun then this is the job for you!

 

Job Summary: 

 

As a volunteer coordinator at Memorial Assistance Ministries, you will play a crucial role in connecting skilled volunteers with diverse programs that contribute to our mission of building stable families, a dynamic workforce, and vibrant communities. You will work closely with the Director of Volunteer Engagement to ensure that volunteer efforts align with MAM’s values and goals.

 

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

 

1.       Volunteer Recruitment and Placement:

a.       Identify, recruit, and engage volunteers based on their skills, interests, and passions.

b.       Match volunteers to appropriate roles within MAM’s programs, including Family Assistance, Financial Education, Employment services, ESL, Citizenship, and Entrepreneurship programs.


2.       Relationship Building:

a.       Foster a sense of community among volunteers by creating a supportive and collaborative environment.

b.       Develop relationships with volunteers to understand their strengths, interests, and aspirations, ensuring a personalized and fulfilling experience.


3.       Program Integration:

a.       Collaborate with program managers to understand the specific needs and requirements of each program.

b.       Ensure that volunteers are effectively integrated into programs, promoting a strengths-based and comprehensive approach to services.


4.       Training and Development:

a.       Coordinate orientation sessions for new volunteers, providing an overview of MAM’s mission, values, and programs.

b.       Facilitate training sessions to equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles.


5.       Long-Term Engagement:

a.       Implement strategies to encourage long-term participation and commitment from volunteers.

b.       Regularly check in with volunteers to assess their satisfactions and address any concerns or challenges.


6.       Volunteer Recognition:

a.       Establish a recognition program to celebrate and appreciate the contributions of volunteers.

b.       Highlight success stories and highlight the impact of volunteers on MAM’s mission.

 

Qualifications:

 

·       Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

·       Previous experience in volunteer coordination (0-3years)

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

·       Ability to match volunteer skills and interests with program needs effectively.

·       Familiarity with MAM’s mission and values.

Physical Demands:

 

  • Regularly required to talk or hear

  • Regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use keyboard, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms

  • Required to have the ability to lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds

  • Required to remain at their workstation for prolonged periods of time

·       Primary work location is a climate-controlled indoor office environment.
