Impact Statement: 

 

The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the organization’s human resources functions – successfully attracting, retaining, training and supporting the employees necessary to fulfill MAM’s mission. This includes talent management, employee relations, performance management, training and development, safety & risk management, benefits, and compensation. The manager helps support a culture that ensures work is performed with high standards of quality, confidentiality, accuracy, and timeliness, while remaining compliant with laws and regulations.

 

As a leader in the organization, the executives, colleagues, and employees must see the HR Manager as their trusted advisor and have confidence that this role makes smart decisions. The ideal candidate is a well-organized, detail-oriented, responsible individual who exercises sound judgment, works well with diverse people and personalities, and can effectively juggle multiple tasks. They have proven ability to cultivate and maintain trust by upholding transparency, fairness, and integrity in all interactions and decisions. Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership:

o   Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the organization’s mission, goals, and strategy.

o   Provide strategic direction and leadership on the development of appropriate HR policies across the organization

o   Facilitate open communication between management and employees, addressing concerns raised by employees and providing feedback

o   Support all departments’ needs through organizational design, staffing, and workforce planning.

 

Talent Acquisition and Management:

o  Lead the recruitment process to attract, hire, and retain talent.

o  Assess and improve performance management process to address concerns and drive high performance.

 

Employee Relations and Engagement:

o  Help develop and implement strategies to foster positive employee engagement, work environment, employee morale, satisfaction, and overall workplace culture

o  Research, develop, and implement training programs to help employees learn new skills and improve existing ones

o  Investigate and mediate disputes between employees, including performance issues, disciplinary actions, and interpersonal conflicts.

o  Train managers to coach and discipline employees

o  Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to improve retention.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

o  Assist in designing and managing compensation programs to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.

o  Conduct periodic pay surveys and job evaluations; implement pay structure revisions.

o  Manage benefits and open enrollment process including obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; vendor and broker relationships management; annual rate negotiation; benefit claims processing; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.

 

Compliance and Risk Management:

o  Ensure legal compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.

o  Ensure employees understand company policies and procedures, ensuring fair and consistent policy application, and recommend policy updates as needed

o  Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.

o  Promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace by preventing issues of discrimination and harassment

 

HR Metrics and Reporting:

o Develop and monitor HR metrics to provide decision support to management.

o Prepare and present reports on HR activities and outcomes.

o Retain historical HR records by designing and maintaining filing system for past and current records.

 

Other Responsibilities:

o  Cultivate professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.

o  Attend staff meetings, retreats, agency fairs and other speaking engagements as needed

o  Support/participate in special organizational events and projects

o  Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

 

·     High level of integrity and confidentiality; sound judgment.

·     Problem-solving and decision-making, demonstrated critical thinking,

·     Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

·     Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.

·     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal

·     Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, HR database software.

·     Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

·     Demonstrated ability to work with people from all walks of life and treat them with dignity and respect.

 

Qualifications:

 

·    Experience with working or volunteering in a Non-Profit organization

·    Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or similar work experience required

·    5+ years of experience in progressively responsible Human Resources roles

·    SHRM, PHR/SPHR certification preferred

·    Bilingual: English, Spanish preferred

 

Physical Demands:

 

·    Regularly required to talk, hear, and smell.

·    Regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use keyboard, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms

·    Required to have the ability to lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds

·    Required to remain at their workstation for prolonged periods of time

Working Conditions/ Work Environment:

 

·    Primary work location is a climate-controlled indoor office environment.

·    Flexibility for local travel related to job requirements.

 

Remote Working:

 

This position is eligible to work remotely up to 20% of the time to complete administrative tasks associated with the role. It is expected that job duties involving onboarding, offboarding, performance meetings and management meetings will be done in-person at the office whenever possible.
