Director of Entrepreneurship



Position Title: Director of Entrepreneurship

Department: Financial Empowerment Program

Reports to: VP of Programs

Employment Status: Full-time, exempt


Impact Statement: The Director of Entrepreneurship’s role is to lead all aspects of MAM’s Entrepreneurship program. The program provides business development services through the Rising Tide model and curriculum to educate, coach, and help individuals start and grow their businesses. The Director will help create new opportunities, increase household income, and decrease poverty by providing these services.


Responsibilities

Program Director


  • Manages the development and execution of a program design and recruitment strategy for entrepreneurs

  • Manages the development & execution of a post-graduation engagement strategy

  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the Entrepreneurship program

  • Manages the budget and operating plan for the program and writes reports for management and funders


Director of Growth


  • Oversees local entrepreneur activities and ensures the delivery of impact

  • Facilitates training according to the schedule and supports, encourages, and coaches program participants to complete the training

  • Connects with tools, training, resources, and best practices

  • Oversees regular coaching to entrepreneur candidates and graduates

  • Manages the development of a growth strategy for any expansion

  • Leads the development of documentation competence that translates vision into actionable work plans

  • Oversees the creation of social media strategy


Director of Education and Event Production


  • Oversees the planning and execution of entrepreneurship classes and graduations, including location, setup, ordering food and supplies, etc.

  • Plans and executes entrepreneurship training logistics

  • Supports local survey/data-collection

  • Creates a supportive and conducive adult-learning environment both in-person and within the online learning community

  • Deepens the student learning experience through follow up


Supervisor


  • Hires supports, and trains program staff and volunteers

  • Connects staff and volunteers to more significant opportunities to create value

  • Acquires, shares, and applies knowledge (including effective measures) to improve decisions and results

  • Ensures staff and volunteers are in the right role and assigned responsibilities based on comparative advantage

  • Motivates and coaches' staff and volunteers to create the greatest value and rewards accordingly


Qualifications


  • Commitment to the MAM mission

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with people from all walks of life and treat them with dignity, respect, and inclusion

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, formulate and articulate a departmental vision, lead staff, and volunteers in realizing that vision, and persuasively engage business and community leaders to support that vision

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant, related experience in management, business operations, and coaching, preferably with small business development, marketing, community outreach, and/or nonprofit management organization. Must include experience designing and delivering adult education

  • Experience as a business owner/entrepreneur strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated program and project management experience

  • Familiarity with local communities and community leaders

  • Proven ability to be self-starting, highly organized, and detail-oriented—comfortable with unstructured assignments, multi-tasking, and quick deadlines

  • Demonstrated highly effective interpersonal, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills, including previous experience in a supervisory/management ability

  • Proficiency in the use of computers for word processing, simple accounting, databases, spreadsheets, email

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

●Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate practical solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem

Work Conditions/Work Environment


Remote Working Conditions/ Work Environment

  • Primary work location is a climate-controlled indoor office environment

  • This position may work remotely for up to 40% of the workweek. This may differ based on business needs

  • Routinely uses office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines


Other Requirements

  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance to travel to off-site classes, make deliveries, and attend meetings and other events
