MAM is searching for a passionate, creative, and detail-driven Communications Manager to lead our communications efforts. If you’re someone who thrives in crafting compelling messages, engaging diverse audiences across multiple channels, and driving impactful projects from start to finish, we want to meet you! We’re looking for a dynamic individual with strong writing, editing, and project management skills, who is also eager to harness AI tools and cutting-edge technologies to elevate our communications. What You'll Be Doing:

•Innovate with AI & Technology: Use emerging tools to push the boundaries of communication strategies, from content creation to engaging audiences with precision.

•Write and Edit with Impact: Craft compelling content tailored to diverse audiences—whether it’s an email, fundraising appeal, success story, or website copy.

•Create & Execute Communications Strategies: Lead campaigns across digital, print, in-person, and social media platforms, ensuring consistent and powerful messaging.

•Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure communication strategies align with organizational goals.

•Manage Multiple Projects: Juggle various communication initiatives simultaneously, while keeping everything organized and on schedule

•Engage on Social Media: Create and share eye-catching content, interact with followers, and boost awareness on platforms like Meta, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

•Elevate Our Brand: Help refine and strengthen MAM’s visual identity through photography, design, and tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.

•Analyze & Improve: Use data tools like Google Analytics to assess communication effectiveness and continuously optimize strategies.

•Website Management: Our current website needs a major overhaul, we know. You’ll be part of the team executing that overhaul and keeping our online presence fresh by updating content and improving user experience.

•Spot Challenges & Solve Them: Stay ahead of potential communication hurdles and come up with innovative solutions to improve our outreach.


What We’re Looking For:

•Outstanding Communication Skills: You’re an exceptional writer and speaker who can tailor your message to any audience and platform.

•Strategic Thinker: You’re able to see the big picture and understand how communication can influence the larger mission.

•Top-Notch Writing & Editing: You know how to craft messages that resonate, whether it’s for an email newsletter, speaking points, social media post, or anything in between.

•Detail-Oriented: Show us your eagle eye for spotting the small stuff! As part of the application process, send an email to jobs@mamhouston.org with “Typos” as the subject line, listing at least three mistakes in this job description (it was painful, but we intentionally left several) to demonstration your attention to detail.

•Strong Time Management: You excel at managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and staying organized.

•Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using AI and eager to explore new technologies that can enhance communication efforts.

•Mission-Driven : A passion for working in the nonprofit sector and a deep commitment to advancing MAM’s mission.


Bonus Points:

•Basic photography/videography skills and an eye for composition.

•Experience managing social media business accounts on channels like Meta, LinkedIn, and YouTube (Google business pages are important to).

•Familiarity with website management tools (Wix, WordPress, etc.), Google Analytics, and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, MailChump, etc.).

•Knowledge of Google Ads, particularly Google Ad Grants.

•Video editing experience (both from phone and computer).

•Experience working with media/press.


Education & Experience:

•A degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field is preferred, but we’ll consider relevant experience as well.

•Bilingual (English/Spanish) is extremely helpful, but not required.
